10 Reasons That Cork Spray Wins out over Traditional Paints

If you haven’t yet heard of cork spray and its amazing properties, then read on! ECOrk America HD is proud to be at the forefront of distributing this wonder material that can be used on the interior and exterior of your home or building. If you’re tired of repainting your property and ready to save on your energy bills, then cork spray should be your next investment. Here are ten ways that our product, Isolate Projected Natural Cork, is better than any paint on the market!

1. Covers Any Surface with Ease

Our goal at ECOrk America is to provide innovative and environmentally friendly coating systems for industrial, commercial, and residential use. Our products need to be durable as well as flexible enough to cover any and all surfaces. Unlike paint, our Isolate Projected Natural Cork adheres to any surface you can think of: wood, siding, aluminum, vinyl, steel, stucco—the list goes on and on! New construction, as well as older homes and buildings in need of a face-lift, can benefit from applied cork.

2. Flexibility: No Cracking or Flaking!

Cork, along with its other qualities, is naturally flexible and durable because of its cell structure. Under a microscope, cork has a honeycomb-like structure that traps air in its pockets—cork is 80-90% air. It’s this structure and the air trapped inside that allows the cork to be flexible and elastic without expanding and contracting with the elements. Where paint will crack and flake when exposed to the elements, cork spray will bend and move with the structure while maintaining structural integrity and therefore not crack under pressure.

3. Non-Toxic and VOC Free

Though lead paint is a thing of the past in the US, there are still other toxic chemicals used to coat the buildings you interact with every day. Not with cork spray! Eagle Industrial’s Eco Cork is a water-based solution and can be applied to the outside or inside of a structure without face coverings. This all-natural polymer also contains no harmful organic compounds either, making it safe for your office, factory, and playroom.

4. Low Maintenance and Durable

One aspect that may deter you from investing in cork spray is the cost per square foot. However, we at Eagle Industrial urge you to compare the long-term costs of using cork spray to paint: over time, cork spray is the less expensive product. The color of cork spray fades ten times slower than paint and because it’s resistant to cracking and flaking, you may not need to reapply for years.

5. Tough on Mold

Resistance to mold and mildew is another naturally occurring feature of cork that will protect your home or building. Along with keeping out harmful allergens, this feature also helps keep the maintenance on your cork covered spaces to a minimum.

6. Water Resistant

Though we’ve discussed the flexibility of cork because it’s made of 80-90% air, that doesn’t mean it lets anything in! Cork Spray is excellent for sealing your home from water damage while also being a breathable product. The impermeability to water is also natural to cork, which means when you’re spraying your basement, ceiling, or outdoor structure, you’re using a non-toxic method while keeping the water out.

7. Wow-Worthy Insulation

Cork Spray’s number one selling point is its natural ability to insulate. With Eagle Industrial’s Eco Cork you can forget about tearing up old structures to add insulation—just spray and lock in your climate-control while keeping unwanted temperatures out! Whether it be your living room or your office you’ll be saving money on energy bills while being able to heat and cool your space to the temperature you want.

8. Sound Damping Wonder

The honeycomb structure of cork does it again with its ability to dampen sound. By coating one side of a wall, cork spray can reduce noise by 9 decibels. Cork by itself has been part of soundproofing recording studios for years and now with cork spray you’re able to reduce the din of your industrial building or chatty coworkers.

9. Flame Retardant

The last but certainly not least of cork’s incredible properties is that it’s naturally fire retardant. This built-in safety feature is excellent for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes alike—definitely not something paint can boast!

10. Clean and Green

Finally, one of the best reasons to incorporate Eagle Industrial’s Isolate Projected Natural Cork into your design is that cork is a sustainable resource. Rather than getting cut down to harvest what is needed, cork trees are stripped of their bark and then left alone to maintain the local ecosystem. During this time of regrowth, cork trees eat up three to five times more carbon dioxide than other trees, and cork forests are one of the biggest reducers in greenhouses gases which contribute to climate change.

Making the Switch to Cork

ECOrk Amerca’s HD Cork Spray is a relatively new product and admittedly has a higher cost per square foot than paint. However, along with accenting the inside and outside of the property with various color choices, spray cork is low maintenance, will help you save on energy bills, and is a sustainable resource.  Contact us today and see how you can start working with or application this fantastic product! Spray Cork: The Every-Surface, Non-Toxic Miracle

You may have to believe it to see it, but we know at ECOrk America that our Natural Spray Cork will cover any surface! Not only that, it will improve the durability of the surface it's sprayed on and add value to your home, building, or industrial complex. These improvements come from the natural resistances and breathable quality of cork. Continue reading to discover the capabilities of our ECOrk HD

The Big Question: How?

ECOrk America HD Natural Cork Spray is a water-based product with the main ingredient being cork. Cork has multiple natural properties that make it ideal to use as a coating in any structure. In terms of being able to cover any surface, the essential facet of cork is its breathability and flexibility: this is due to the molecular structure of cork.

Cork under a microscope looks like a honeycomb: its cells create interlinking pockets which trap air inside. Cork is 80-90% air! It’s this structure plus the air pockets that gives cork it’s flexibility and make it a breathable material. These air pockets also pull double duty; though cork is flexible, it doesn’t expand and contract with changing environments which cause other coatings in your building to crack and flake.

The Great Repair Tool

This flexibility without expansion and contraction makes our Isolate Projected Natural Cork a fantastic repair tool for previously built structures. Let’s consider stucco, brick, and cement, for instance: all of these surfaces can be difficult to cover well, but cork spray coats these with ease! If there are any cracks in your foundation, walls, or siding spray cork can be used to fill these cracks. From there, using the cork spray as a new coating—further damages will be prevented as the flexible material moves with the building, but doesn't react to the elements.

Metal Structures and Insulation

Metal structures, whether they are galvanized steel, aluminum, or metal siding, usually prove challenging to coat as well. Our Eco Cork spray has you covered—yes, even metals—and insulated to boot! Working in a building with metal siding can prove to be very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer; not an ideal setting for you or your projects. With Isolate Projected Natural Cork, you can insulate the building while maintaining the integrity that the metal structure provides. With just 3 millimeters of cover on the outside of the building, you create a thermal barrier that will keep the elements from affecting the temperature on the inside. Now you can work in comfort without adding multiple treatments to the walls and siding

Waterproofing for Outdoor Spaces and Roofs

Another aspect natural to cork is water resistance. Water resistance may seem to contradict the other qualities of cork such as its breathability, but it’s true! Cork spray is excellent for sealing roofs and outdoor spaces. Since our ECOrk HD will adhere to anything, you can spray it directly onto the roofing materials of your building—even shingles—preventing or fixing leaks. For outdoor patios and balconies, whether they be stone, wood, or cement, cork spray can seal these as well, giving you long-lasting coverage with little to no maintenance.

Mold and Mildew Resistant

Cork is resistant to mold and mildew, making it an excellent choice to seal the exteriors and interiors of a property. Not only are you keeping mold and mildew spores out of your offices and homes, but you’re doing so with a non-toxic material! Cork Spray doesn’t need to be treated with additional chemicals to maintain elasticity or any of its resistances, and it also contains no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that could harm you. An application doesn't even require face masks!

Sound Insulation

Working in an industrial setting can cause damage to your hearing, so adding any materials that can reduce the decibel level for you and your workers is an asset. Cork boards have been used in recording studios for decades to provide noise insulation, and cork spray works just as well—without having to damage your walls with mounted hardware! By coating one side of a wall with just 2 millimeters of spray, you reduce noise by 9 decibels—18 if you cover both sides! This is also great for a music rehearsal space in your home or to quiet the din in an office building.

Colors, Finishes, and Maintenance

ECOrk America HD Natural Spray Cork comes in multiple colors, A bonus is that cork spray only fades 1% annually versus paint's 10%! Because of its resistance to water, mildew, and mold, the maintenance needed on cork spray is minimal. For the exterior, a simple rinse with a hose—not even a high powered one—will remove any dirt, and debris can be wiped down on interiors if the need ever arises.
